Over 200 participants at Asia breastfeeding forum

HER Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna yesterday officiated the launch of the 10th One Asia Breastfeeding Partners Forum based on the theme of ‘Complementary Feeding for Infants and Young Children: Give Mom Access to Appropriate Food, No Child will go Hungry’ during a ceremony held at the Al-‘Afiah Hall of the Ministry of Health.

Her Royal Highness was greeted by the Minister of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohd Yusof as well as the permanent secretary and deputy permanent secretaries at the ministry.

Forum boosts rise in breastfeeding rate

A WELCOMING dinner was hosted by the Minister of Health, Pehin Orang Kaya Johan Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Adanan bin Begawan Pehin Siraja Khatib Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohd Yusof in conjunction with the 10th One Asia Breastfeeding Partners Forum 2014 at Hua Ho Manggis Mall last night.

The dinner was attended by interna-tional speakers from Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, India, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Korea, Thailand and Afghanistan including a representative from the International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) and officials from the Ministry of Health.

Breastfeeding rate has risen 10pc over past 20 years

EVIDENCE has proven that breastfeeding can save the lives of millions of infants and young children worldwide, help them avoid common infectious diseases and prevent the development of non-communicable diseases such as obesity and diabetes in adulthood.

This was shared by Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna in her sabda during the opening ceremony of the 10th One Asia Breastfeeding Partners Forum at the Al-‘Afiah Hall of the Ministry of Health yesterday.

The sabda highlighted that food insecurity and malnutrition are still rampant in many parts of the world and have claimed millions of lives.

FOLLOWING the opening ceremony of the 10th One Asia Breastfeeding Partners Forum yesterday at the Al-‘Afiah Hall of the Ministry of Health, a keynote speech was presented by the Co-Founder of the International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN) and World Alliance For Breastfeeding Action (WABA), Dato Anwar Fazal of Malaysia.

The presentation entitled ‘Feeding the Future: Challenges and Opportunities’ focused on the politics of breastfeeding.

Dato Anwar Fazal explained that the World Breastfeeding Charter describes 20 attributes of breastfeeding.
