Infant Feeding and HIV: A Regional Colloquium for the Asia Pacific

Theme: Minimizing Infant Mortality Related to Infant Feeding Choices in the Context of HIV

 

International Baby Fsood Action Network (IBFAN) Asia Pacific/BPNI and UNICEF ROSA organized a Regional Colloquium on Infant Feeding and HIV for the Asia Pacific Region at New Delhi, India on November 28-29, 2003. Supporting partners included World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA), UNICEF India, Planning Commission GOI, National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) India, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), AED-Linkages and Institute of Maternal and Child Health
(IMCH) Sweden.

The Colloquium brought together participants from NGOs and governments of 29 countries including South Africa, Uganda and Botswana and international organizations like UNICEF, WHO to share experiences, be technically updated, and strategies national policies and priorities to take the UN HIV and Infant Feeding Framework for Priority Actions, a step further in the region.
The representatives of 29 countries adapted in unanimity the Final recommendations of the Colloquium.
